Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the CelestMap Android app and the celestmap.com website (the “Services”) handle information. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of celestmap.com.

This page is a consumer-facing description for Google Play and this website. It is not legal advice and has not been certified by counsel for every jurisdiction.

1. Who this applies to

This Policy applies to visitors of celestmap.com and users of the CelestMap Android app. Google has its own privacy practices for Play purchases, Play services, and Android system backup.

2. No CelestMap account

CelestMap does not require you to create a CelestMap account, email, or password on our servers. We do not operate a CelestMap backend that stores your birth data, charts, reflections, or Ask questions for cloud inference. Chart calculation runs on your device.

3. Information on your device

Depending on the features you use, the app may store on your phone:

• Chart profiles you create (name, birth date, optional birth time, birth place name, latitude, longitude, and timezone used for natal math)
• Sky Sit sessions and reflection notes; a 7-day rhythm derived from saved reflections
• Ask questions you type and answers generated from your local chart context
• Readings journal, saved sky snapshots (Pro), and preferences (appearance, house system, and similar settings)
• Subscription entitlement signals from Google Play needed to unlock Pro

CelestMap does not use Health Connect or treat practice notes as medical records. The app does not request GPS or fine location permission to track where you are in real time. For Western natal chart math, birth place is what you choose from an on-device city catalog (bundled with the app) so latitude, longitude, and timezone can be resolved without sending your current location.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

• Compute a tropical natal chart, Sky Sit cues, transits, Insights, Ask, and related features on your device
• Remember preferences you set in the app
• Respond to support emails you send us
• Unlock Pro features after Google Play confirms a subscription
• Comply with law and enforce our terms

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your charts or reflections for third-party advertising. We do not operate a third-party product-analytics SDK in the app.

5. On-device Ask

Ask answers from your computed chart, placement, transit, or synastry context on this device. Questions and answers stay on your phone. They are not uploaded to a CelestMap server. There is no CelestMap-operated AI backend.

6. Notifications

Optional local notifications (for example, Sky Sit completion or Pro sky-window alerts) use Android’s notification permission if you opt in. Notification copy is authored on device. CelestMap does not send promotional push from a CelestMap server.

7. Purchases (Google Play)

Optional Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Google Play when available. We receive limited purchase or entitlement signals needed to unlock paid features (for example, subscription status). We do not receive your full payment card number. Google’s privacy policy applies to payment data. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.

8. Android backup

The app may participate in Android’s backup mechanism where enabled on your device and by your OEM. Backup content and encryption are governed by Google and your device settings, not by a CelestMap cloud account. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data removes local CelestMap storage on that device unless a backup restore applies.

9. Analytics and hosting

CelestMap does not send usage analytics to a CelestMap server. If Google shares crash or diagnostic data with us under your device settings, we may use that to fix bugs. The marketing website may keep standard hosting logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and operations. If we add website analytics or cookies later, we will update this Policy and, where required, provide consent controls.

10. Support email

If you email support@celestmap.com, we receive the address and message you send (and any attachments) so we can reply. Include your Android version and what you were trying to do. Do not send health information, full birth certificates, or other sensitive content you would not want in an email inbox.

11. Website

celestmap.com is a marketing and legal site. It does not host your in-app charts. Hosting logs may include IP address, user agent, and requested URLs.

12. Sharing

We share information only when:

• You choose to share (for example, the system share sheet or a chart PDF you export)
• Google processes purchases or device services you enable
• A service provider assists website hosting or email under confidentiality obligations
• Required by law, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
• In a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer (with notice where required)

13. Retention

Data you store in the app generally remains until you delete it, uninstall the app, or clear app data. Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal obligations. Canceling Pro through Google Play stops renewal; local data remains until you delete it.

14. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

15. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to a local-first app and a marketing website. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Use a device lock screen and keep your OS up to date.

16. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. For app data on your device, you can delete charts or uninstall. For support-related data or other requests, email support@celestmap.com. You may also adjust platform privacy settings (notifications, backup, diagnostics) on your device.

17. International users

If you access the Services from outside the country where the Services are operated, your information may be processed where we or our providers operate, subject to applicable law.

18. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
